Members of the ShanghaiDaily.com team all feel depressed today, unusually depressed, fearing that maybe someone will not be coming into work tomorrow, or ever again.

These feeling came from an article -- “http://www.shanghaidaily.com/art/2006/02/28/244669/7_professions_exhaust_elite.htm">7 professions exhaust elite” -- which says that those who work in IT or news industries are most likely to die from work exhaustion. Unfortunately, we are involved in both. Arrrrr………

Each staff member had their own ideas on how to eradicate this issue and avoid an early death. Winny Wang said everyone should install a protective screen on his or her monitors to avoid excess radiation. Zhang Liuhao said the newspaper should give everyone a free dormitory near the office, to cut down fatigue. (This being said he lives in Qibao and has to spend more than 90 minutes to get to the office) Velox is however more practical, “lunch time should be rest time, say two hours for good nap”. Zhong Bei suggested we play relaxing music in the office, which is the only seemingly usable suggestion among them all.

Then Winny said ... Zhang said ... Velox said … Zhong said ... Zhang said … Velox said … Winny said … Zhong said …

The conversation keeps expanding.

Martin, the boss of the online department, felt saddened about the research, but has still decided to devote himself fully to the Website. He did however complain to our customer service representative Xiao Yu that we are working in the most deadly job industry in China.

When showing the story to Bob Cronin, the senior language advisor of the newspaper, he laughed happily and loudly. Perhaps he was happy that no one would be able to bother him to edit the endless news stories.

In all seriousness though, workers nowadays are under a lot of pressure. They have to work hard to ensure a better life in this fast paced society.

A healthy body is a necessity for work, so we hope all our reader’s start paying more attention to their health. Start tonight by getting a good nights rest!
