Huge waves affected some hotels along the Coral Coast this morning.

FijiVillage news website quoted a police assessment as saying that water went into 30 rooms at Shangri La's Fijian Resort in Sigatoka beween the Nadi-Suva highway.

According to the police report, sea walls have also been damaged.

Meanwhile, water also went inside three beach side villas in the Naviti Resort Spa and its restaurant, while Tambua Sands in Namada and Fiji Hideaway Resort in Sigatoka were also not spared.

Water entered into the rooms and bures and some guests had to move to higher ground.

Huge waves are expected again later today and tomorrow as the next high tides are expected.

Fiji's Nadi Weather Office said a high pressure system situated in the southwest of the country coincided with huge waves at around 8am local time today, which was witnessed by people living along the coastal areas in Sigatoka.

More rain accompanied with thunderstorm and flash flooding of low lying areas has been predicted by the Nadi Weather Office.

A trough of low pressure remains over Fiji slowly moving northwards and wet weather will be experienced over eastern areas of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and Lau and Lomaiviti Gro.
